Sit back, relax, & enjoy the welcoming atmosphere at these great spots

There’s just something about spending time at a café. Whether you’re seeking a quiet moment to relax and gather your thoughts, or want to catch up with your friend over a cup of coffee, we’re drawn to cafés again & again. They provide a snapshot of what the larger community is like, and as such, cafés in the Leduc Region represent the warmth and kindness our cities & towns are known for.

Regardless of if you’re looking for a great cup of coffee, a freshly-baked pastry, or a homemade lunch, there’s no lack of options in the area. Keep reading to learn more about some of our favorite spots…

Cozy cafés in the Leduc Region
Phat Tony’s – Leduc

Found in the heart of Leduc’s City Centre Mall, Phat Tony’s Bistro & Cafe has been proudly serving homemade soups and fresh sandwiches to customers in the area for over 2 years. Their dedication to quality, and to only using the freshest ingredients, shows in the delicious foods they create. While the promise of enjoying a made-from-scratch soup & sandwich may draw you in, the friendly atmosphere and excellent customer service will keep you coming back.

Go-to Order: Whatever is on special! You honestly can’t go wrong with any of their soup & sandwich combos. Some of our favorite specials we’ve enjoyed in the past include their Grilled Cheese & Roasted Red Pepper Soup, or the Phat Tony’s Club & Clam Chowder. The real star of the show may actually be their potato salad – trust us when we say that you’ll be buying a container of it to bring home after you experience how tasty it is as a side dish.

Versus Café & Catering Co. – Calmar

We can’t decide if we like the coffee or atmosphere more at this little café found on Calmar’s main street. Versus Cafe has a beautifully decorated interior, featuring reclaimed wood walls and rustic decor. If they’re empty, be sure to snag one of the leather wing back chairs found by the window – it’s the perfect spot to curl up with your favorite book and a warm cup of joe. Don’t leave without having dessert; there’s simply too many tasty options to pick from.

Go-to Order: You need to experience the hot, freshly brewed java here. Did you know they serve Alternate Route coffee? It’s smooth, tasty, & expertly roasted – you won’t be disappointed. In fact, you’ll most likely end up bringing a bag home afterwards (because those are available for sale here as well)!

Frickin’ Delights Donuts – Devon

This place is dangerously good. Frickin’ Delights Donuts specializes in making old-fashioned donuts fresh daily. And yes, we can vouch for the fact that they are, indeed, delightful. Their weekly rotating flavors will keep you coming back for more, and are considered to be some of the best vegan donuts in the greater Edmonton area. Although Frickin Delights is known for donuts, they do offer an equally impressive hot lunch menu, hand-crafted espresso, coffee, & tea lattes in their modern, yet rustically cozy, café.

Go-to Order: Donuts obviously! You can’t go wrong; unless you eat too many of course. Some of our favorite flavors from past menus include Rootbeer Sparkle, Coffee Crisp, & Lemon Coconut. Check out their Facebook Page to learn about what flavors they’re offering on any given week, and for an inside look at the amazing creations owners Mandy & Cory make.

Prestigio Bakery & Bistro – Leduc

Prestigio Bakery & Bistro succeeds in bringing a taste of Europe to the Leduc Region, providing European-style bread and pastries to locals & visitors alike. There’s a reason why they sell out often, so make sure you get here early for your pick of freshly baked goods. Not only does Prestigio have an excellent & varied selection of delicious baked goods, they’re also known for quality customer service – owners Elizabeth & Antonio go out of their way to make sure everybody who walks through their doors leaves happy!

Go-to Order: Seeing as Prestigio is a Portuguese bakery, you need to try their famous pastéis de nata. More commonly known as Portuguese custard tarts, these tasty treats are crispy & flaky on the outside, rich & creamy on the inside, and have lightly brûléed tops. They’re buttery, they’re utterly delicious, and you won’t be able to enjoy just one.

Calmar Bakery – Calmar

Despite being a small town, Calmar’s café scene is a tough one to stand up against, because there’s another spot that deserves to be featured on this list. We’re talking about the Calmar Bakery of course – a must-stop spot for freshly baked bread, donuts, pastries, and coffee. The bakery’s exterior is almost as beautiful as their baked goods are tasty, and is a great backdrop for a photo opp. It’s a common theme on this list, but make sure to get here early – the donuts and pastries fly off the shelf for good reason.

Go-to Order: This one’s truly a tough decision, because their sweet or savoury menu options are equally as delicious. If you’re in the mood for savoury, we recommend their fresh-out-of-the-oven jalapeno & cheese pizza buns. If you’re craving something sweet, go for one of their famous cinnamon buns served with homemade cream cheese icing.

Leduc Coffee Shop – Leduc

Last, but certainly not least, on our list of cozy cafés in the Leduc Region is the Leduc Coffee Shop. Found on historic Main Street Leduc, it boasts a central location, seeing as all sorts of specialty shopping experiences are within walking distance. After experiencing the friendly service and warm atmosphere this family-owned spot is known for, you’ll soon realize why this café is much more than just a place to run in for coffee. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, relax, catch up with old friends, and make new ones – while enjoying some excellent food & coffee.

Go-to Order: We’ve raved about their cinnamon buns in past blogs (and for good reason). However, next time you pay the Leduc Coffee Shop a visit, you must try their orange rolls – they’re bursting with orange flavor. Pair it with one of their silky smooth lattes, and you have yourself the perfect afternoon pick-me-up.

Of course you can get a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Leduc Coffee Shop

We don’t know about you, but we suddenly have a craving for a hot beverage and tasty treat in one of these cozy cafés. Whether you love them more for their food & drinks, or for their warm atmospheres, you can’t go wrong paying one of these great spots a visit next time you’re in the Leduc Region.
