It’s one of the most unique outdoor experiences in the region, and it is officially OPEN for the 2021 season! Take your spring date night to the next level at the University of Alberta Botanic Garden.
Stroll hand-in-hand through beautifully manicured natural setting with that special someone. Gaze over still pools of water that reflect the prairie sky in the Aga Khan Garden. Marvel at colourful Koinobori (Japanese carp flags) flying in the Kurimoto Japanese Garden. Listen as live music plays softly in the background. Romantic, isn’t it?
What’s NEW in the garden this spring? Add to your outdoor happy time with a delicious Brunch Box, available every Thursday – Sunday throughout the month of May! Simply order a Brunch Box in advance (admission to the garden included), find a quiet corner in the garden, and enjoy. Check out this Sample Menu for an idea of what to expect – more add-ons like smoked salmon with cream cheese and baguettes, or mimosa kits, are available too!

Try a Trail in Leduc County
Regardless if you’re an outdoorsy couple, or just want to explore new areas with that special someone, the Leduc County Recreation team has you covered with 8 different trails to (re)discover! Some of our favorites include…
💕 Genesee Pond Trail
🌳 Jubilee Park Trail
💕 Coyote Lake Nature Sanctuary Trail
🌳 Coates Conservation Trail
💕 Rundle’s Mission Trail
It’s the perfect date night activity – work together to map out what your hike is going to look like, enjoy the fresh spring air, and stop for a few cute pics along the way. Remember to brush up on these basic hiking safety tips before your next adventure.
An Un-FORE-gettable Date Night
Have you gone golfing with your partner this spring? If not… Why not?! Expert golfing ability is NOT required for this fun date night idea. Even if you aren’t ready to hit the links and play a full round yet, majority of golf courses in the region have driving ranges open to the general public:
💕 Leduc Golf Club – Book a Tee Time or Hit the Driving Range
⛳ RedTail Landing – Book a Tee Time or Hit the Driving Range
💕 Eagle Rock Golf Course – Phone (780) 464-4653 for Tee Times or Hit the Driving Range
⛳ Devon Golf & Conference Centre – Book a Tee Time *NOTE: Driving Range currently closed*
Brush up on your golf skills with that special someone, or learn new ones! Plenty of laughs and fond memories are guaranteed to follow.
Picnic Dates in the Park
You supply the food, local parks supply the backdrop. There are SO many awesome spots throughout the Leduc Region perfect for a picnic date in the park… In fact, we even wrote a blog post about it! Some of our go-to spots include Fred Johns Park (disc golf anyone?) and William F. Lede Park (you can’t go wrong with a picnic near Telford Lake or the Stone Barn).
Take your picnic date to the next level by supporting these local eateries:
👌 Local Meats Leduc & Jard Mercantile (make your own charcuterie board!)
🦞 Lobster Mobsters (for all of your smoked salmon and seafood needs)
🥪 Phat Tony’s Bistro & Cafe (homemade soups, sandwiches, and more)
🥐 Prestigio Bakery & Bistro (stock up on baked goods and grab a cup of coffee to go)
🌯 Basha Donair & Shawarma (Mediterranean wraps pair well with picnics)
🌮 Habaneros Mexican Grill (take-out tacos in the park? Why not!)
Hockey Date Nights at Home
With the regular NHL season wrapping up, and playoffs just around the corner, many of us may be glued to the TV. Regardless if you and your partner are cheering for the same team or not (for the sake of your relationship, we sure hope you are), you can easily turn hockey night at home into a fun date night!
Here are a few recommendations for game-night takeout & drinks options:
🍔 Barney’s Leduc (locally-sourced pub fare)
🍗 Kosmos Restaurant & Lounge (for all your classic game-night eats)
🍺 Rural Routes Brewing Company (craft beer and more)
🍕 Leduc Diner (pizza + wings + hockey = the perfect combo)
🥡 Lee’s Family Restaurant (who says Chinese food and hockey don’t go together?)
🥃 Rig Hand Distillery (for all your cocktail needs)
Farmers’ Market Adventures
In our opinion, a farmers’ market is the perfect date activity. Lucky for us, farmers’ market season is just around the corner! Mark it down on your calendars folks…The Leduc Farmers Market opens on May 20!
Found in the Leduc Recreation Centre parking lot EVERY Thursday & Sunday from 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM, the Leduc Farmers Market is THE place to take your loved one this spring. Visit with local vendors, pick up some fresh eats and treats for a meal together, or find a unique gift for your special person.
Even though COVID-19 safety restrictions are still in place, that shouldn’t hold you back from spending quality time with that special someone! We’d love to hear about local creative date night ideas you’ve come up with – leave a comment below and let us know about some new ones! In the meantime, enjoy one (or a few) ideas from the list above. 😊
