How it all started …

Alternate Route‘s story is almost as unique as the coffee … they started out as a roastery on wheels!

Yes, you read that right – a food truck turned into a coffee roastery! It all began in 2017 when owners Ian & Kellie Wahl made the bold choice to take their lives in a new direction by starting their own business. The monotony of working Monday to Friday, and living for the weekends, had them searching for an “Alternate Route” of their own. So they combined their love for coffee with a desire to live life to the fullest, purchased a food truck, and started roasting!

The rest is history as the start-up grew rapidly. Kellie & Ian’s passion for, and relentless commitment to, sourcing + roasting great-tasting coffee shines through in every aspect of their business – all you need to do is ask them a few questions about their product and you’ll quickly see what we mean.

In fact, a new chapter in Alternate Route‘s story started just a few months ago – they opened a NEW permanent roastery and cupping lab beside the Edmonton International Airport!
